About Freddie Fox
Rising star Freddie Fox returns to the West End in Oscar Wilde’s An Ideal Husband.
Freddie Fox was most recently on stage opposite Tom Hollander in the critically acclaimed production of Travesties.
Prior to that he was parachuted into the role of Romeo in Kenneth Branagh’s production of Romeo & Juliet at the Garrick Theatre when both the lead and understudy were unable to perform due to injury. His ability to slip into the role at short notice, no doubt made possible by having played the role to great acclaim in a Sheffield Theatre production, for which he was nominated for an Ian Charleson Award.
A member of the Fox acting dynasty, Freddie is the son of actors Edward Fox and Joanna David, brother to Emilia Fox, nephew of James Fox, cousin of Laurence Fox, godson of John Mortimer and great grandson of famous dramatist Frederick Lonsdale,
Freddie Fox’s previous theatre roles
A graduate of Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Freddie’s notable theatre roles include playing Oscar Wilde’s lover Lord Alfred ‘Bosie’ Douglas in The Judas Kiss, opposite Rupert Everett (Hampstead Theatre, West End); cleft-palated Camille in Feydeau’s farce A Flea In Her Ear at the Old Vic, opposite Tom Hollander; and Tony Davenport in Thea Sharrock’s production of Terence Rattigans Cause Célèbre also at the Old Vic Theatre, opposite Anne-Marie Duff.
Freddie Fox’s film and tv roles
Freddie’s screen credits include playing a bisexual assassin in BBC thriller-noir The Shadow Line; playing 80s pop star Marilyn in the BBC’s Boy George biopic Worried About the Boy and the young version of writer Peter Scabius in Any Human Heart, the high-profile Channel 4 adaptation of William Boyd’s novel. Other tv credits include Cucumber (Channel 4), Banana (E4) and The Three Musketeers.
