1. Glengarry Glen Ross
The Old Vic, 4 June – 18 July 2026
Directed by Tony Award winner Patrick Marber (Closer), Glengarry Glen Ross arrives at The Old Vic this summer with a groundbreaking twist: an all-female cast led by Rosa Salazar (High Noon, Bird Box, Parenthood) as Roma and Olivier Award-winner Indira Varma (Game of Thrones, Oedipus, Present Laughter) as Levene.
David Mamet’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play, written during the height of the Thatcher and Reagan eras, follows four real estate agents given a brutal ultimatum: sell more, or get fired, driving them to lies, bribery, threats and more.
Presented entirely in-the-round, the configuration places the audience at the heart of the dog-eat-dog sales office for a high-stakes, 360-degree experience.
Its unflinching look at the machinery of capitalism has never felt more urgent and promises to be one of the boldest productions of the year.

2. Cyrano de Bergerac
Noël Coward Theatre, 13 June – 5 September 2026
The RSC’s acclaimed production of Cyrano de Bergerac transfers to the West End following its sold-out run in Stratford-upon-Avon, with Olivier Award winner Adrian Lester reprising his role as Cyrano and Susannah Fielding returning as Roxane.
Co-adapted by director Simon Evans and Debris Stevenson, the production follows the legendary poet and duellist Cyrano, so insecure about his enormous nose that he helps the handsome but tongue-tied Christian woo the woman he loves. The twist – Roxane never suspecting who the true author of those extraordinary love letters really is.
Critics called it “hilariously funny and ultimately heartbreaking,” and with Lester at the helm this is shaping up to be an unmissable run – even more so with discounted tickets.

3. Grace Pervades
Theatre Royal Haymarket, until 11 July 2026
David Hare’s major new play Grace Pervades has arrived in the West End for a strictly limited run, transferring following an acclaimed world premiere at the Theatre Royal Bath.
Academy Award-nominee Ralph Fiennes stars as Henry Irving, the first actor ever to be knighted, and Miranda Raison as Ellen Terry, the era’s most adored actress. The play charts the two actors’ celebrated partnership — on and off the stage — which changed theatre forever, as well as the theatrical legacy inherited by their precocious children.
The Financial Times called it “fascinating, absorbing and very funny,” and with Fiennes giving what many are calling a career-defining performance, it’s a thoughtful examination of the cost of living life on the stage.

4. An Ideal Husband

Staged on the 100th anniversary of the play’s last appearance at the Lyric in 1926, this contemporary production of An Ideal Husband relocates Oscar Wilde’s classic comedy to the world of modern, affluent London.
Wilde’s most satirical play, a tour de force of scandal, betrayal and social skewering, translates effortlessly to the present day and this cast is exceptional.
Starring Jamael Westman (Hamilton, The Witcher) as Lord Goring, Aurora Perrineau (Kaos, Westworld) as the scheming Mrs Cheveley, as well as Tamara Lawrance as Lady Chiltern (Get Millie Back, Twelfth Night, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom), it’s directed by Nicholai La Barrie. 5. Tao of Glass
@sohoplace, 25 July – 12 September 2026
Composer Philip Glass and performer-director Phelim McDermott make their long-awaited West End premiere at @sohoplace, bringing with them fresh look at what it means to be a West End show. Tao of Glass is an ambitious piece: covering ten meditations on life, death and Taoist wisdom, alongside ten brand new pieces of music from Glass, it’s presented by McDermott with an ensemble of musicians and puppeteers.
Part-concert, part-performance, it’s a storytelling tapestry: inspired by a dream, shot through with theatricality and soundtracked by Glass’s mesmerising music. The Guardian called it an experience that will make “your eyes fill with tears, for there is only so much that the human heart can hold within it,” which tells you everything you need to know.

6. The Play That Goes Wrong

Disrupting the West End for over a decade, London’s landmark comedy The Play That Goes Wrong continues to wreak havoc in its 12th year at the Duchess Theatre.
The accident-prone thespians of the Cornley Drama Society are attempting to stage a 1920s murder mystery… and as the name suggests, everything that can go wrong, does.
Winner of the Olivier Award for Best New Comedy, this is the longest-running comedy in the West End and is still packing out the Duchess eight shows a week. 7. Teeth 'n' Smiles
Duke of York’s Theatre, until 6 June 2026
Fifty years after David Hare’s trailblazing play set the Royal Court alight, Teeth ‘n’ Smiles returns to the West End to burn it all down again.
Starring Rebecca Lucy Taylor (better known as Self Esteem) as Maggie, the disillusioned (and rather chaotic) frontwoman of a rock band on the edge of collapse the play holds a lens to the anarchic world they inhabit.
The role of Maggie was originated by Helen Mirren at the Royal Court in 1975 and hadn’t been seen in London since Sheffield’s Crucible in 2002. Taylor brings her own new songs to the production, making this feel like something genuinely alive rather than a museum piece.

8. Mother Courage and Her Children
Shakespeare’s Globe, 27 June 2026
Shakespeare’s Globe welcomes Brecht to its stage for the very first time with a new production of his anti-war masterpiece Mother Courage and Her Children, translated by Anna Jordan and directed by Globe Associate Artist Elle While.
Globe Artistic Director Michelle Terry leads as Mother Courage herself, a trader determined to profit from war while trying to keep her children alive, even as war demands everything in return.
Filled with live music, biting humour and raw determination, the production asks urgent questions about survival, capitalism and complicity. The open-air Globe is a uniquely electric setting for Brecht’s fury, and with Terry in the title role, this promises to be one of the Globe’s most powerful productions of the year.

9. As You Like It
Shakespeare’s Globe, 14 August – 25 October 2026
Co-directed by Associate Artistic Director Sean Holmes and Globe Associate Artist Charlie Josephine (who will also play Orlando) alongside Lola Shalam as Rosalind, As You Like It transforms the Globe stage into the wild and magical Forest of Arden.
Holmes and Josephine’s previous collaborations include the hugely celebrated Cowbois at the RSC and Royal Court, so expectations are high for what they’ll bring to one of Shakespeare’s most beloved comedies.

10. Much Ado About Nothing

Following her acclaimed 2024 production of All’s Well That Ends Well, director by Chelsea Walker is back to the Bard with Much Ado About Nothing. The production stars Pippa Nixon as Beatrice and Ken Nwosu as Benedick in one of Shakespeare’s most irresistible comedies.
Set in a sun-soaked world of style and status where image is everything and late-night parties blur into dawn, Walker’s production promises an unfiltered look at bad behaviour, second chances and recovering from past hurts. Running all the way through to October, it is the Globe’s longest-running summer production, but that’s no reason to leave it to the last minute.

12. The Oresteia

Bridge Theatre, 2 July – 19 September 2026
Australian director Simon Stone returns to the Bridge Theatre with The Oresteia following his acclaimed 2025 staging of The Lady from the Sea, this time reuniting with the same creative team to bring Aeschylus’s epic Greek tragedy to the stage.
In this modern adaptation, a contemporary family wakes up in a Greek myth and can’t seem to find a way out of their hellish destiny: transforming an ancient saga of revenge, war and justice into something painfully immediate. With the Bridge’s powerful staging and Stone’s reputation for compelling pieces of radical reinvention, this is set to be the theatrical event of the late summer.
