STOMP kicked off its 13th birthday celebrations early with record breaking Valentinte’s Day shows.
Ambassadors Theatre reported record breaking shows for the matinee and evening performances on 14 February 2015. The evening show was the highest grossing performance of any production in the 102-year history of the theatre and it was also the highest grossing Saturday matinee in the theatre’s history, meaning Box Office records were broken twice on Valentine’s Day.
Celebrations for STOMP’s 13th birthday in London will continue on Monday 11 May, when STOMP will host a Gala Night for Teenagers to acknowledge its own 13th STOMP.
STOMP, created by Luke Cresswell and Steve McNicholas was first performed in 1991 in Edinburgh. The show played Sadler’s Wells Theatre in 1994 and won the Olivier Award for Best Choreography, and then opened in New York, where it is now celebrating its 21st birthday. STOMP has toured the globe for 22 years, playing over 20 thousand performances to more than 12 million people in 53 countries on 6 continents.
