The original creative team reunites
Fans of the original 2005 production will be pleased to know the “dream team” is back. Based on the Studiocanal film, the musical features a book and lyrics by Lee Hall and music by Elton John.
The creative team includes:
- Director: Stephen Daldry
- Choreographer: Peter Darling
- Scenic Design: Ian MacNeil
- Costume Design: Nicky Gillibrand
- Lighting Design: Rick Fisher
- Sound Design: Paul Arditti
- Orchestrations: Martin Koch
Set against the backdrop of the 1984-85 miners’ strike, Billy Elliot remains a powerful story of a community in conflict and a boy who swaps boxing gloves for ballet shoes to change his life forever.
Searching for the Next Billy
The release of the trailer comes as a nationwide search is underway to find the young stars of the show. Producers have been scouring the UK for the next generation of actors to take on the iconic roles of Billy, Michael, and Debbie.
This new production carries a significant legacy; the original stage show has been seen by over 12 million people worldwide and boasts a staggering 80 international awards, including four Oliviers and ten Tony Awards.
