Dramaturgy by Olivier Award-winner Jethro Compton
The one-person Korean rock musical The Last Man, newly reimagined for English-speaking audiences, is set to make its UK premiere at Southwark Playhouse Elephant in London this May.
The production will run at Southwark Playhouse Elephant from 8 May to 13 June 2026.
Directed by Daljung Kim (Hedwig and the Angry Inch, The Spitfire Grill), the full cast and creative team have also been revealed for the world premiere of the English-language version.

A Seoul sensation
The Last Man is already a huge hit in South Korea and China, this year entering its third season in Seoul.
The production features a book and lyrics by Jishik Kim and music by Seungyeon Kwon, with the English adaptation boasting dramaturgy by Jethro Compton, the Olivier Award-winning writer and director behind the West End hit The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. The lyricist, musical supervisor, co-orchestrator and arranger is Gabriel Chernick.
This new English-language adaptation, developed by NEO Inc., has been specifically tailored for UK audiences ahead of its London premiere.
The cast of The Last Man
In a unique casting move, the central role – a lone survivor of a zombie apocalypse sealed inside bunker B-103 – will be shared by two performers on alternate nights.
The show will star:
- Lex Lee: A Kiwi-Korean actor with extensive international credits including West Side Story and Handel’s Messiah.
- Nabi Brown: A recent Trinity Laban graduate whose credits include Diana The Musical and Dick Whittington and His Cat.
The production also boasts a powerhouse creative team including set design by Shankho Chaudhuri, costume design by Anna Kelsey, lighting design by Cheolmin Cho, and sound design by Liam McDermott.
A mysterious virus
In The Last Man, a mysterious virus spreads across the globe. Cities fall silent. The undead roam.
Armed with supplies to last a year, one survivor locks themselves inside Bunker B-103 to wait it out.
But as the days stretch on, isolation begins to warp their sense of reality. The bunker becomes both sanctuary and prison; time fractures, memories resurface, and survival itself starts to feel dangerous. Now they must decide: is survival enough? Or should they open the bunker door?…
