A revival of the stage adaptation of Jonathan Lynn and Anthony Jay’s Yes, Prime Minister is coming to the UK.
Yes, Prime Minister will run at the Barn Theatre in Cirencester, from 28 August to 3 October 2026.
The play is adapted by Jonathan Lynn and the late Anthony Jay from their hugely successful BBC TV comedy Yes, Minister and Yes, Prime Minister.
The announcement comes as Jonathan Lynn’s new play based on the franchise, I’m Sorry, Prime Minister, transfers from Cirencester to London’s West End. The production stars Griff Rhys Jones and Clive Francis, and is now playing at the Apollo Theatre in London until 9 May 2026.
The stage adaptation of Yes, Prime Minister was first produced at the Chichester Festival Theatre in 2010, starring Jonathan Slinger, David Haig and Henry Goodman. That production transferred to the West End’s Gielgud Theatre the same year.
A West End revival in 2011 played at the Apollo Theatre starring Richard McCabe and Simon Williams.

In Yes, Prime Minister, it’s a tense weekend at Chequers. New Prime Minister Jim Hacker is facing a collapsing economy, party infighting, a hostile media – and Sir Humphrey Appleby. With a high stakes loan on the table and a Civil Service he’s not sure he can trust, Jim must save his premiership, and the economy, while outmanoeuvring his rivals and reasserting democratic control.

The Barn Theatre also announced a new production of Rick Elice and Roger Rees’ Double Double. The revival celebrates the 40th anniversary of the play, which ran at London’s Fortune Theatre in 1986, and is running at the Barn from 28 April to 30 May 2026.
Currently playing at the Barn Theatre is a new stage adaptation of Simon Nye’s hit TV sitcom Men Behaving Badly, playing until 7 March 2026.
