Orlando James and Eve Ponsonby to join the cast of Shakespeare in Love at the Noel Coward Theatre in 2015.


Disney’s lavish new production of Shakespeare in Love, currently playing at the Noel Coward Theatre in London, has announced a new cast for its 2015 run.
The show will see Orlando James join the cast of Shakespeare in Love in the starring role of Will Shakespeare from 12 January 2015, joined by Eve Ponsonby as his romantic muse Viola De Lesseps.
They replace current stars of the show Tom Bateman and Lucy Briggs-Owen.
This critically acclaimed stage adaptation of Shakespeare in Love is based on the Oscar winning movie that starred Joseph Fiennes and Gwyneth Paltrow and featured a screenplay by Tom Stoppard and Marc Norman. It is adapted for the theatre by Billy Elliot writer Lee Hall.
The full cast of 28 actors and musicians will include Nicholas Asbury as Wessex, Neal Barry as Henslowe, Richard Bremmer as Tilney and Sir Robert De Lesseps, Paul Brennen as Fennyman, Suzanne Burden as Queen Elizabeth, Ryan Donaldsonas Ned Alleyn, Edward Franklin as Marlowe, Ncuti Gatwa as Wabash, Gregg Lowe as Sam, Andy McKeane as Ralph, Peter Moreton as Burbage, Joy Richardson as Nurse, Charlie Tighe as Nol, and Stuart Wilde as Webster. The ensemble will include Aaron Anthony, Jonno Davies, Peter Hannah, Nick Hart, Joshua Higgott, Sioned Jones, Sandy Murray, Ellie Nunn, Thomas Padden, Stevie Raine, Elliot Rennie and Florence Roberts.
The starring pair are well known to the show’s director Declan Donnellan and designer by Nick Ormerod having starred in Cheek by Jowl’s production of ‘Tis Pity She’s A Whore.
Orlando’s stage credits include Another Country at Chichester, ‘Tis Pity She’s A Whore, and The Duchess of Malfi. Eve is best known for appearing in TV drama The White Queen.
Shakespeare in Love opened at the Noel Coward Theatre in July 2014, and is now booking to 18 April 2015.
