New cast announced for Urinetown at the Apollo Theatre including comedian Phill Jupitus
Comedian Phill Jupitus is to join the cast of cult musical Urinetown at the Apollo Theatre from 1 December 2014.
He will play Caldwell B. Cladwell, replacing Simon Paisley Day in the role.
Other new cast joining the show from 1 December include original cast members Julie Jupp as Penelope Pennywise (replacing Jenna Russell) and Alasdair Buchan as Mr. McQueen (replacing Marc Elliott).
Phill Jupitus is best known for TV’s Never Mind The Buzzcocks and QI, with West End credits including Hairspray at the Shaftesbury Theatre.
The show features music and lyrics by Mark Hollmann and book and lyrics by Greg Kotis. Other cast in the show include Jonathan Slinger as Officer Lockstock, Matthew Seadon-Young as Bobby Strong, Cory English as Old Man Strong, Madeleine Harland as Soupy Sue, Rosanna Hyland as Hope Cladwell, and Karis Jack as Little Sally.
Jamie Lloyd’s fun production has garnered great critical acclaim and runs at the Apollo Theatre until January 2015.
Coming in to the Apollo Theatre from 17 January 2015 is the West End transfer of the Donmar Warehouse’s revival of Kevin Elyot’s comedy My Night With Reg starring Julian Ovenden. Then from 21 April 2015 Kristin Scott Thomas stars as The Queen in Peter Morgan’s The Audience.
