Made in Dagenham opens this Wednesday (5 November 2014) at the Adelphi Theatre in London.
The much-anticipated musical – possibly the biggest launch of the Autumn season in the West End – is directed by award-winning Almeida Theatre artistic director Rupert Goold (King Charles III, Enron, American Psycho) and created by a very accomplished team including book by Richard Bean (Great Britain, One Man, Two Guvnors), music by David Arnold (James Bond movies) and lyrics by Richard Thomas (Jerry Springer The Opera).
The show is based on the hit British movie that starred Sally Hawkins, which in turn is based on the true story of a band of women working for Ford’s Dagenham car plant in the Sixties, who strike over equal pay and change the course of working conditions for women in Britain.
A very strong cast is led by film and stage actress Gemma Arterton (The Voices, Tamara Drewe, Quantum of Solace, St Trinian’s) as Rita, alongside Adrian der Gregorian (Mr Burns, Rocky Horror Show) as Eddie, veteran stage actress Isla Blair (The History Boys) as Connie, David Cardy (Dreamboats and Petticoats) as Monty and Sophie Stanton (EastEnders, Beautiful Thing) as Beryl.
They are joined by Gareth Snook, Steve Furst, Mark Hadfield, Sophie-Louise Dann and Naomi Frederick. Also Sophie Stanton, Heather Craney, Sophie Isaacs, Julius D’Silva, Naana Agyei-Ampadu, Thomas Aldridge, Kate Coysten, Christopher Howell, Scott Garnham, Ian Jervis, Paul Kemble, Emma Lindars, Jo Napthine, Tracey Penn, Gemma Salter, Rachel Spurrell, Emily Squibb, Karli Vale and Rene Zagger.
