Roundabout Theatre Company in New York has announced star casting for its forthcoming revival of The Rocky Horror Show.
Directed by Tony Award-winner Sam Pinkleton (Oh, Mary!), The Rocky Horror Show will play at Studio 54 on Broadway from 26 March until 21 June 2026.
The cast of Richard O’Brien’s cult musical will be led by stage and screen star Luke Evans, making his Broadway debut as Frank-N-Furter.
Further casting is to be announced.
Joining Sam Pinkleton in the creative team will be choreography by Ani Taj (Dead Outlaw), music direction and orchestrations by Kris Kukul (Beetlejuice), set design by dots (Appropriate), costume design by David I. Reynoso (Water for Elephants), lighting design by Jane Cox (Appropriate), sound design by Brian Ronan (The Great Gatsby) and hair & makeup design by Alberto “Albee” Alvarado (The Outsiders).
The musical boasts a score of show-stopping classics including “Dammit Janet,” “Touch-a, Touch-a, Touch-a Touch Me,” “Hot Patootie” and of course, “Time Warp”.
In the show, two squeaky clean college kids – Brad and his fiancée, Janet – are on their way to visit their former college professor when by a twist of fate, their car breaks down outside a mansion. There they meet the charismatic Dr. Frank-N-Furter, Riff Raff, Columbia, Magenta, Eddie, and Rocky, and go on an adventure they will remember for a very long time!
Luke Evans is a star of both stage and screen. He last performed in the West End in 2023 in Backstairs Billy at the Duke of York’s Theatre. Evans’ other stage credits include Rent, Miss Saigon and Piaf.
He is best known for his roles in films including Clash of the Titans, Beauty and the Beast, and The Hobbit trilogy. His TV credits include Nine Perfect Strangers.
Writer Richard O’Brien said in a statement: “It is music to my ears to hear that a cast of very fine actors is on its way to NYC in order to play let’s dress-up and make-believe, sing and dance and uplift the hearts of all those who enjoy the gift of free thinking and the pleasure of love. Break out the fishnets and let’s have a party.”
Director Sam Pinkleton said: “I’m giddy to crack this untamable classic open with the razor-sharp Luke Evans at the center. And I hope to do at Studio 54 what The Rocky Horror Show has done for people around the world for decades – open a dimension to another possible reality. It seriously is the honor of a lifetime to bring the freakiest people I’ve ever met into the freakiest theatre I’ve ever been in to revisit the freakiest show there’s ever been. No pressure, of course. Rocky Horror is, to me, a sublime, ridiculous, giant-hearted act of love – a trashy little musical that means so many things to generations of tender weirdos with mascara streaming down their faces. I hope we can make something joyous, unfathomable, straight from outer space and I can’t wait to welcome, really WELCOME you into the slimy tentacles of Studio 54.”
Currently playing during Roundabout’s 2025-2026 season is Archduke by Rajiv Joseph. It was announced yesterday that Archduke is getting its European premiere in London next year, as part of the Royal Court Theatre’s 70th anniversary season.
Sam Pinkleton is coming over to London this year to direct the West End transfer of his Tony Award-winning production of Oh, Mary! at the Trafalgar Theatre. Oh, Mary! in London will star Mason Alexander Park (Cabaret) as Mary Todd Lincoln, joined by Olivier Award winner Giles Terera (Hamilton) as Mary’s Husband.
In the UK & Ireland, The Rocky Horror Show is currently touring – book tickets here.
