West End star Emma Kingston will lead a global celebration of Wicked when she joins the Wicked Worldwide Singalong, presented by Young Voices, at The O2, London, on Thursday 22 January 2026.
Currently starring as Elphaba in the West End production of Wicked at the Apollo Victoria Theatre, Kingston will unite hundreds of thousands of young singers across the world in a specially arranged Wicked medley celebrating friendship, courage and self-belief. The live event will connect schools and choirs worldwide via broadcast link, allowing children everywhere to sing along simultaneously.
“We are over the moon to have Emma join us for this special event,” said Ben Lewis, CEO of Young Voices. “She is a truly extraordinary performer, and her participation is going to inspire every child and choir taking part around the world.”
Emma Kingston added: “It is such an incredible honour to join the global Wicked Singalong. To think that hundreds of thousands of children around the world and I will be raising our voices together as we sing a medley of the musical’s most iconic songs is truly magical.”
Kingston’s stage credits include Evita (world tour, hand-picked by Andrew Lloyd Webber), In the Heights, Heathers: The Musical, Fiddler on the Roof and Les Misérables.
The current West End cast of Wicked also features Zizi Strallen (Glinda) with Carl Man (Fiyero), Sarah Ingram (Madame Morrible) and Michael Matus (The Wizard).
The production continues its open-ended run at the Apollo Victoria Theatre, currently booking to 3 January 2027.
Wicked on Screen and Stage
The Wicked phenomenon continues to captivate audiences on both stage and screen. The first instalment of Universal Pictures’ two-part film adaptation, starring Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda, premiered to global acclaim in November 2024, with part two – Wicked: For Good – set for cinema release on 21 November 2025. Ahead of the film’s release, NBC will air a live Wicked TV special on 6 November 2025, filmed at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles. The one-off event will feature Erivo and Grande performing songs from the first movie, alongside teasers for Wicked: For Good and special guest appearances.
Erivo is also set to appear on the West End stage in Dracula next year, and will guest this week on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing for its Movie Week segment as a mentor to contestants – though it’s not yet confirmed whether she will perform any numbers from Wicked.
Since opening in London in 2006, Wicked has become the 10th longest-running West End production in history, seen by more than 13 million theatregoers and honoured with over 100 global awards.
The musical imagines the untold story of the Witches of Oz, charting how two unlikely university friends become Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.
Written by Winnie Holzman from Gregory Maguire’s best-selling novel, Wicked features music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz. The West End production is directed by Joe Mantello, with musical staging by Wayne Cilento, set design by Eugene Lee, costumes by Susan Hilferty, lighting by Kenneth Posner, sound by Tony Meola, projections by Elaine J. McCarthy, and hair & wigs by Tom Watson. Orchestrations are by William David Brohn, with musical supervision by Stephen Oremus.
Schwartz and Holzman also collaborated on the Universal Pictures film adaptations, directed by Jon M. Chu and produced by Marc Platt and David Stone, starring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande.
