The hit horror comedy The Grim returns to London this winter, following acclaimed sell-out runs at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and the Old Red Lion Theatre. It plays Southwark Playhouse Borough from 26 November to 6 December 2025.

From award-winning writer Edmund Morris (You’re Dead Mate), this darkly funny and spine-tingling comedy takes audiences into the eerie world of undertakers in 1964 Britain. Shaun, the weary proprietor of his family’s funeral business, and his hapless assistant Robert are preparing the corpse of notorious criminal Jackie Gallager — until the night takes a terrifying turn when the dead refuse to stay that way. Blending farce and horror, The Grim promises a fast-paced, hilarious, and unexpectedly emotional theatrical experience.

The cast features Edmund Morris as Shaun, Louis Davison (Poltergeist, Arcola Theatre; Vikings: Valhalla, Netflix) as Robert, and Harry Carter (Magic Mike’s Last Dance, Warner Bros) as Jack. The production is directed by Ben Woodhall and produced by RBM.

Woodhall describes the play as “a real gift to a director — full of wit, surprises, and genuine thrills,” while Morris adds, “to see The Grim gallop into one of London’s most famous theatres just a year after the Fringe is truly astonishing.”

The Grim runs for 90 minutes including an interval.
