The world premiere production of High Noon, adapted from the Oscar-winning 1952 movie, is coming to the Harold Pinter Theatre in London this winter.
High Noon will star Emmy and Tony Award winner Billy Crudup (The Morning Show) and Olivier Award winner Denise Gough (People, Places and Things).
High Noon will run at the Harold Pinter Theatre from 17 December 2025 until 7 March 2026.
Based on the original High Noon screenplay by Carl Foreman, the play is written by Oscar winner Eric Roth (Forrest Gump, Dune), and is directed by Olivier Award winner Thea Sharrock (The Bodyguard).
Hailed as one of the greatest westerns ever made, and originally a searing allegory to Hollywood’s blacklist, High Noon promises to once again speak urgently to the world. The stage adaptation unfolds in real time over the course of its two-hour running time, similar to the movie.
The original movie starred Gary Cooper and Grace Kelly.
Set in the American West of the 1800s, High Noon is centred on the bond between Will Kane (Billy Crudup) and Amy Fowler (Denise Gough) – a love tested by impossible choices as the clock ticks down to the return of deadly outlaw Frank Miller on the high noon train.
Joining Thea Sharrock in the creative team are design by Tony and Olivier Award winner Tim Hatley (Back to the Future, Life of Pi) and lighting by Tony and Olivier Award winner Neil Austin (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Frozen The Musical).
The production is produced in the West End by Paula Wagner and Tom Werner, alongside Thomas Tull, Danny Cohen and Len Blvatnik.
High Noon was originally slated for a Broadway run in 2024 directed by Michael Arden, although the production did not go ahead.

With Thea Sharrock’s inspired direction and the incredible talents of Billy Crudup and Denise Gough, High Noon will bring the urgency and heart of the classic film to audiences in a way that feels both timeless and powerfully alive today.”
Producer Tom Werner said: “Every once in a while, I see a play whose themes stick with me long after I leave the theatre. Those experiences are both thrilling and astonishing. It happened recently when I saw Sarah Snook in The Picture of Dorian Gray. And it happened when I saw High Noon this summer in a workshop. Billy Crudup and Denise Gough in Eric Roth’s adaptation of High Noon is not to be missed.”
High Noon is playing at the Harold Pinter Theatre from 17 December 2025 until 7 March 2026.
