About the Show
Winner of the 2024 Papatango New Writing Prize, The Meat Kings! (Inc.) of Brooklyn Heights is a bold, blistering and darkly comic debut by rising playwright Hannah Doran.
Set in a struggling Brooklyn butcher shop, the play follows T, a new summer hire at Cafarelli & Sons. Under the stern eye of boss Paula, a diverse crew of workers battle not only the daily grind but each other, as jobs hang in the balance when the season ends. What unfolds is a sharp and satirical look at survival, ambition, and the human cost of chasing the American dream.
Directed by George Turvey, Artistic Director of Papatango, this exhilarating new work explores themes of immigration, exploitation, and identity in contemporary America. The Meat Kings! is part workplace drama, part political satire—and wholly unmissable.
