Clueless The Musical has posted its closing notices at the Trafalgar Theatre in London.

The new West End show started its run in February, and was booking to 28 March 2026, but will now finish at the Trafalgar Theatre on Saturday 23 August 2025.

Customers with tickets for dates following 23 August will be contacted by their point of purchase.

A UK tour of the show has also been announced, starting in September 2026 at Bromley Churchill Theatre, with further dates to be announced.

Clueless The Musical is adapted for the stage by writer of the original hit movie Amy Heckerling, with new music by Brit Award-winning singer-songwriter KT Tunstall (Saving Grace), and lyrics by Glenn Slater (Tangled, Sister Act, School of Rock).

Directed by Rachel Kavanaugh (The Great British Bake Off Musical), with choreography by Olivier Award winner Kelly Devine (Come From Away), the show opened earlier this year to largely positive reviews from London’s theatre critics.

Clueless stars Emma Flynn (Beautiful, Little Shop of Horrors) as Cher Horowitz, played by Alicia Silverstone in the movie; with Keelan McAuley (Heathers The Musical, Grease) as Josh.

The show also features Chyna-Rose Frederick as Dionne, Romona Lewis-Malley as Tai, Isaac J Lewis as Christian, Rabi Kondé as Murray, Blake Jordan as Travis, Max Mirza as Elton, Ryan O’Donnell as Mel, Mr Hall & Driving Instructor, Emily Florence as Amber, and Imelda Warren-Green as Miss G, Ms S, Lucy & Heather. The full ensemble includes Sophie Elmes, Jacob Fisher, Aoife Kenny, Josh Latunji, James Lim, Ernest Stroud and Grace Eleanor Thomas. Swings are Dylan Gordon-Jones, Lucas Lluna, Lucy Rice and Rachel Seirian.

Based on Jane Austen’s Emma, Clueless has been a cultural touchstone since the movie’s release 30 years ago this year, in 1995.

Set in the glitzy world of Beverly Hills, the story follows Cher Horowitz, a wealthy and popular high school student who spends much of her time matchmaking — only to realise that she might not understand love as well as she thinks.

The Clueless creative team also includes music supervision and arrangements by Carmel Dean, scenic design by Mikiko Suzuki MacAdams, costumes by Tony Award-winner Paloma Young, lighting by Ben Cracknell, sound by Rob Bettle & Sam Clarkson for Sound Quiet Time, wigs, hair and make-up design by Sam Cox, orchestrations by Simon Hale, and casting by Olivia Laydon for Jill Green Casting.

Shows looking for a West End home

Shows currently circling the West End looking for a potential home include the UK premiere of Clarkston by Samuel D. Hunter (The Whale), starring Joe Locke (Heartstopper), Ruaridh Mollica (Sebastian) and Sophie Melville (The Way). Clarkston was announced earlier this week, but a venue wasn’t confirmed.

Also looking for a West End theatre is Wild Rose The Musical, with the show’s producers confirming this week that, following a successful Edinburgh run, they would like to bring the screen-to-stage musical to London.

Other possible shows include Rachel Kavanaugh’s other recent project, A Knight’s Tale The Musical; another recent Manchester hit Come Fall in Love – The DDLJ Musical; Muriel’s Wedding The Musical, which played the Leicester Curve earlier this year; David Baddiel’s The Parent Agency The Musical; and recent Chichester hit The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry The Musical.
