The Donmar Warehouse in London has announced the world premiere of new play Juniper Blood by Mike Bartlett (Unicorn).
Juniper Blood will run at the Donmar Warehouse in London from 16 August to 4 October 2025.
The play explores the true cost of pursuing ideals in an imperfect world. The story centres on Lip and Ruth, who have left the city behind for a new life on a farm; trying to live differently, live better. But when Ruth’s stepdaughter and her provocative best friend arrive, this quiet rural project is thrown into chaos, as conflicting visions of the future come crashing into the present.
Directed by James Macdonald (Waiting for Godot), Juniper Blood will star Hattie Morahan (Ghosts, Orpheus Descending, A Doll’s House) as Ruth, Jonathan Slinger (Waiting for Godot, A View From the Bridge, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) as Tony, Sam Troughton (Closer, Beginning, Rutherford and Son) as Lip, Terique Jarrett (Fangirls) as Femi, and Nadia Parkes (The House Party) as Milly.
Joining James Macdonald in the creative team is designer ULTZ, associate set designer Mark Simmonds, lighting designer Jo Joelson, and sound designer Helen Skiera.
Mike Bartlett recently scored a big West End success with Unicorn at the Garrick Theatre. His other plays include Scandaltown, The 47th, Cock, Mrs Delgado, Albion, Game, Snowflake, Wild, King Charles III, and Bill. His TV credits include Life and Doctor Foster.
Other new shows in the Donmar’s 2025-2026 season include Kip Williams (The Picture of Dorian Gray, Dracula) adapting and directing Jean Genet’s The Maids (13 October to 29 November 2025); and a new production of J.B. Priestley’s comedy When We Are Married (6 December 2025 to 7 February 2026), directed by Tim Sheader and starring Siobhan Finneran, Samantha Spiro, Sophie Thompson and Marc Wootton.
Currently playing at the Donmar Warehouse is Lynn Nottage’s Intimate Apparel starring Samira Wiley, until 9 August 2025.
Juniper Blood is playing at the Donmar Warehouse from 16 August to 4 October 2025.
