Carole King musical BEAUTIFUL announces dates for Aldwych Theatre run in the West End
The Tony Award winning Broadway show Beautiful – The Carole King Musical has set dates for its West End run at the Aldwych Theatre in London.
The show will start previews on 10 February 2015, with a press night on 25 February and an initial booking period that ends on 13 June 2015.
Winner of two 2014 Tony Awards, the show has proved a massive hit on Broadway at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre starring Jessie Mueller and producers will be hoping to recreate some of the magic in the West End,
The show is based on the life and career of legendary singer/songwriter Carole King, and is the untold story of her journey from school girl to music superstar.
The producers are currently casting the 26 performers to appear in the show, including a British star to play Carole King.
Beautiful features a wealth of songs that were big hits in the UK including Will You Love Me Tomorrow, Take Good Care of my Baby, Up on the Roof, Locomotion, You’ve Got a Friend, (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman, So Far Away, It Might As Well Rain until September, One Fine Day, I Feel the Earth Move, You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling, On Broadway and Uptown.
Directed by Marc Bruni, Beautiful features a book by Douglas McGrath, and words and music by Gerry Goffin, Carole King, Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil. Choreography will be by Josh Prince with set design by Derek McLane, costume design by Alejo Viettii, lighting by Peter Kaczorowski and sound by Brian Ronan.
