Shakespeare in Love is to extend its run at the Noel Coward Theatre.
The play will book to 10 January 2015, with new tickets going on sale on 1 September.
Directed by Declan Donnellan with design by Nick Ormerod, Shakespeare in Love is based on the original Oscar winning screenplay by Marc Norman and Tom Stoppard and has been been adapted to the stage by Lee Hall (Billy Elliot).
The show opened last month and enjoyed a warm reception from the critics with five stars from the Telegraph, Independent and Daily Mail. Charles Spenser in the Telegraph said that Lee Hall’s “delightful stage adaptation the piece seems to have found its true home. It’s funny, often genuinely moving and generates a glow you could warm your hands by. You can feel the audience getting behind the piece from the start, and by the end this inventive and touching comedy seems like a joyous celebration of the possibilities of theatre itself.”
The cast includes Tom Bateman as Will Shakespeare, Lucy Briggs-Owen as Viola De Lesseps, Anna Carteret as Queen Elizabeth and Paul Chahidi as Henslowe.
