The Olivier Award winning actress is currently starring in Mr Burns at the Almeida Theatre.

In Urinetown she plays hard-as-nails, no nonsense urinal manager Penelope Pennywise.

Other cast transferring into the West End from the show’s original run at the St James Theatre include RSC actor Jonathan Slinger as Officer Lockstock and EastEnders’ Marc Elliott reprising his role as Mr McQueen. Also Chris Bennett (Swing), Katie Bernstein (Little Becky Two Shoes/Mrs. Millennium), Cory English (Old Man Strong/Hot Blades Harry), Madeleine Harland (Soupy Sue), Rosanna Hyland (Hope Cladwell), Karis Jack (Little Sally), Julie Jupp (Old Woman/ Josephine Strong), Aaron Lee Lambert (Billy Boy Bill/ UGC Executive), Mark Meadows (Senator Fipp), Joel Montague (Swing) and Jeff Nicholson (Tiny Tom/ Dr. Billeaux).

Casting for the lead role of municipal toilet attendant Bobby Strong is yet to be announced but it won’t be Richard Fleeshman, who played the part at the St James.

The multi-Tony Award winning musical will hit the Apollo Theatre from 29 September 2014, directed by Jamie Lloyd (The Commitments, Richard III) and designer Soutra Gilmour.

Urinetown features music and lyrics by Mark Hollmann and book and lyrics by Greg Kotis.
