Imogen Stubbs, Ciaran Owens, Julia Chan & Tom Austen to join Lily Allen in Hedda

More casting has been announced for Hedda, a reimagining of Ibsen’s Hedda Gabler at the Theatre Royal Bath starring Lily Allen.

Hedda is playing at the Ustinov Studio at the Theatre Royal Bath from 25 July to 23 August 2025.

Joining Olivier Award-nominee Lily Allen (2:22 A Ghost Story, The Pillowman) is Imogen Stubbs (Othello, The Crown), Ciaran Owens (Curfew, Red Speedo), Julia Chan (2:22 A Ghost Story, Saving Hope) and Tom Austen (The Borgias, Grantchester).

Further casting is to be announced.

Hedda is adapted and directed by Matthew Dunster (2:22 A Ghost Story, The Hunger Games On Stage, Dealer’s Choice).

In the play, Hedda returns from her honeymoon already bored with her marriage, and finds herself shattered by a destructive attraction to a seemingly brilliant but dissolute writer, and blackmailed by a predatory older man. Suffocated and betrayed by these violent forces, there is only one choice left to her.

Joining Matthew Dunster in the creative team are set and costume designer Anna Fleischle, lighting designer Ian Dickinson, sound designer Lucy Carter, and casting director Heather Basten.

Hedda is running at the Theatre Royal Bath’s Ustinov Studio from 25 July until 23 August 2025.
