Bristol Old Vic is set to welcome the cult vampire hit Let the Right One In for a limited run from 4–15 November 2025.

Adapted for the stage by Jack Thorne (Toxic Town, Netflix; His Dark Materials, National Theatre; Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, West End), the production is based on the acclaimed Swedish novel and film by John Ajvide Lindqvist.

Speaking ahead of the production’s launch, Jack Thorne expressed his excitement: “I am so excited Let the Right One In is coming to Bristol Old Vic. It is my home theatre, the one I still imagine in my head when I think of what a theatre looks like. It is also a place of rare beauty which makes it all the better. So inflicting blood and gore on the place is probably entirely wrong, but Let the Right One In is also about difference and love – a love note to acceptance – and there is no better place for those themes than BOV!”

A hauntingly beautiful coming-of-age story, Let the Right One In follows lonely teenager Oskar, who is bullied at school and left to his own devices at home. When a mysterious new neighbour, Eli, moves in next door, an unusual friendship blossoms. But Eli is not what they seem, and as a series of grisly murders unfold, Oskar is forced to confront the chilling truth about his only friend.

Let the Right One In has captivated audiences since its stage debut, first brought to life by the National Theatre of Scotland in a production that transferred to London’s Royal Court Theatre and later the Apollo Theatre in the West End. Directed by Tony Award-winner John Tiffany (Once, The Pass), the original production won the South Bank Sky Arts Theatre Award and received widespread acclaim for its striking design, evocative movement, and chillingly immersive atmosphere.

This production marks the revival of the Royal Exchange Theatre’s acclaimed 2022 staging, directed by Bryony Shanahan and presented in association with Marla Rubin Productions Ltd. Bristol Old Vic is partnering with Trafalgar Theatre to bring this gripping, atmospheric adaptation to audiences in the city.

Casting to be announced.

Let the Right One In runs from 4-15 November 2025 at Bristol Old Vic Theatre.

Prior to Let the Right One In, Bristol Old Vic welcomes the return of Starter for Ten with Mel Giedroyc confirmed to reprise her roles in the hit play based on the coming-of-age novel by David Nicholls. More details on the theatre’s full Autumn/Winter 2025 season can be found here.
