Shakespeare’s Globe in London has announced full casting for its forthcoming production of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet.
Directed by Sean Holmes, Romeo and Juliet launches the Globe’s summer season, and is playing from 25 April to 2 August 2025.
The production will have an American Wild West setting.
Casting already announced includes Abdul Sessay as Romeo and Lola Shalam as Juliet.

They are joined by Marcus Adolphy as Lord Montague / Apothecary, Rawaed Asde as Tybalt, Roman Asde as Benvolio, Michael Elcock as Mercutio, Léa des Garets as Lady Capulet, Josh Gordon as Sampson / Cover, Colm Gormley as Lord Capulet, Niamh James as Abram / Cover, John Lightbody as Friar Lawrence, David Olaniregun as Gregory / Cover, Joe Reynolds as Paris, Jamie-Rose Monk as Nurse, and Dharmesh Patel as Prince / Peter.
Joining Sean Holmes in the creative team for Romeo and Juliet are: Design by Paul Wills, composer Grant Olding, fight director Maisie Carter, movement director Tamsin Hurtado-Clarke, text by Si Trinder, voice by Liz Flint, and casting by Becky Paris.
Director Sean Holmes said in a statement: “We have a really exciting cast containing a great combination of youth and experience and I can’t wait to start rehearsals on this beautiful monster of a play.”
Other shows playing during the summer 2025 season at Shakespeare’s Globe include The Merry Wives of Windsor (4 July to 20 September 2025), Arthur Miller’s The Crucible (8 May to 12 July 2025), Twelfth Night (8 August to 25 October 2025), Troilus and Cressida (26 September to 26 October 2025), and Rough Magic (19 July to 23 August).
Romeo and Juliet is playing at Shakespeare’s Globe from 25 April to 2 August 2025.
