Irving Berlin’s much loved musical Top Hat, which is getting a new production at Chichester Festival Theatre this summer directed by Kathleen Marshall, will tour to other UK theatres.
Announced this week, Nottingham’s Theatre Royal has joined the tour schedule, running from 7 to 11 October 2025.
Top Hat is playing at Chichester Festival Theatre from 14 July to 6 September 2025, and then will tour to Woking, Milton Keynes, Edinburgh, Nottingham, London Wimbledon, Canterbury, Liverpool, Cardiff, Sunderland, and Manchester. More dates are to be confirmed.
Most of the tour dates, including London Wimbledon, are now on sale.
Directed and choreographed by Kathleen Marshall, a three-time Tony Award winner known for her acclaimed revival of Anything Goes, this production of Top Hat promises dazzling choreography, lavish sets, and Irving Berlin’s timeless score, featuring classics such as Cheek to Cheek, Let’s Face the Music and Dance, and Puttin’ on the Ritz.
Casting details for the show are to be announced.
Marshall leads a creative team that includes set designer Peter McKintosh, musical supervisor Gareth Valentine, orchestrator Chris Walker, lighting designer Tim Mitchell, and sound designer Paul Groothuis. Casting is by Natalie Gallacher for Pippa Ailion and Natalie Gallacher Casting.
Based on the iconic 1935 film starring Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, Top Hat was adapted for the stage by Matthew White and Howard Jacques. The show’s 2013 West End run won the Olivier Award for Best New Musical and the Evening Standard Award for Best Night Out.
