A concert of musical The Hunchback of Notre Dame, based on Disney’s animated movie, is coming to London this summer.
The show will play for two performances at the West End’s Prince Edward Theatre, on Sunday 17 August 2025.
The concert will be directed by Jonathan O’Boyle, with musical direction by Alan Williams, and is produced by Jack Maple.
Casting for the concert is to be announced.
Based on Victor Hugo’s classic novel, The Hunchback of Notre Dame boasts music and lyrics by Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz, who wrote the songs for Disney’s original 1996 animated movie, plus new songs and book by Peter Parnell.
The show’s original book for the 1999 world premiere German production, Der Glöckner von Notre Dame, was by James Lapine (Into the Woods). That Berlin production ran for three years.
This new version of the show premiered in 2014 in San Diego and has travelled the world, but never made it to the UK.
Songs from the show include Out There, God Help the Outcasts, The Bells of Notre Dame, Heaven’s Light, and Hellfire.
Based on Victor Hugo’s classic novel, the story follows Quasimodo, the lonely bell-ringer of Notre Dame Cathedral, as he navigates love, freedom, and acceptance in 15th-century Paris.
The Hunchback of Notre Dame in Concert will play the Prince Edward Theatre on Sunday 17 August 2025 at 3pm and 7.30pm.
Other Disney musicals heading to London this year include Disney’s Hercules, which is getting an epic new production at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, running from 6 June 2025.
Hercules will join West End long-runner Disney’s The Lion King, which is celebrating 25 years in London at the Lyceum Theatre.
