New musical KENREX written by and starring Jack Holden (Cruise) is transferring to London following a successful premiere in Sheffield.
KENREX is billed as a gritty, gripping, one-man thrill ride, that is part Western, part True Crime, and based on an event in 1981 in Skidmore, Missouri. A man is shot dead in broad daylight, there are sixty witnesses – but no one saw a thing.
The show will transfer to Southwark Playhouse Borough from 14 February to 16 March 2025.
Jack Holden (Marriage, BBC; War Horse, National Theatre) stars in the one-person musical, jumping between characters in a high-octane blend of vocals, sound effects and song.
Holden is accompanied on stage by composer and musician John Patrick Elliott, and directed by co-writer Ed Stambollouian (Animal Farm, Royal & Derngate; More More More Joe Lycett, UK Tour).
The creative team also includes design by Anisha Fields; lighting and video design by Joshua Pharo; sound design by Giles Thomas; movement direction by Sarah Golding; and production management by James Anderton.
The show is a co-production between Sheffield Theatres and Aria Entertainment, who produced Cruise in the West End, and shows including Flowers for Mrs Harris, Brokeback Mountain, The Last Five Years, and Pippin – 50th Anniversary Concert.
Kenrex will play the Southwark Playhouse Borough from 14 February to 16 March 2025.
