The Royal Shakespeare Company has confirmed casting for its forthcoming London transfer of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Part of the RSC’s Winter Season at the Barbican, A Midsummer Night’s Dream is directed by Eleanor Rhodes, and stars Mathew Baynton as Bottom.
Joining the acclaimed production is West End leading man Andrew Richardson (Guys and Dolls) as Oberon/Theseus, and Katherine Pearce (Waterloo Road), as Puck.
Other new company members include Alexander Bellinfantie as Moth, Eliza Smith as Mustardseed, and Natalie Thomas as Peaseblossom.
Returning cast members are Nicholas Armfield as Demetrius, Emily Cundick as Snout, Esme Hough as Cobweb, Ryan Hutton as Lysander, Laurie Jamieson as Snug, Neil McCaul as Egeus, Helen Monks as Rita Quince, Adrian Richards as Philostrate, Boadicea Ricketts as Helena, Sirine Saba as Titania/Hippolyta, Dawn Sievewright as Hermia, Mitesh Soni as Flute, and Premi Tamang as Starveling.
This hilarious production of Shakespeare’s captivating comedy transports audiences from deepest midwinter to the most magical of midsummer nights.
The creative team for the production also includes Set and Costume Designer Lucy Osborne; Illusion Director and Designer John Bulleid; Lighting Designer Matt Daw; Composer Will Gregory; Sound Designer Pete Malkin; Movement Director Annie-Lunnette Deakin-Foster; Fight and Intimacy Directors Rachel Bown-Williams and Ruth Cooper-Brown; and Casting Director Matthew Dewsbury CDG.
A Midsummer Night’s Dream will run at the Barbican from 3 December 2024 to 18 January 2025.
Now playing at the Barbican Theatre is the RSC and Wise Children’s acclaimed production of The Buddha of Suburbia. Based on the novel by Hanif Kureishi, and adapted for the stage by Wise Children’s Emma Rice with Hanif Kureishi, The Buddha of Suburbia is playing at the Barbican Theatre to 16 November 2024.
Currently playing in London is the RSC’s production of Matilda The Musical at the Cambridge Theatre.
Coming up in the West End is the RSC’s production of Kyoto at Soho Place Theatre from 9 January 2025; and their award-winning production of My Neighbour Totoro, playing the Gillian Lynne Theatre next year, from March 2025.
