Winners have been announced for this year’s Asian Media Awards 2024, including winners in the Live Performance category.

The winners were announced at a ceremony at Manchester’s Hilton Deansgate hotel on 25 October 2024.

The West End’s Talia Palamathanan picked up the Best Newcomer Award. Palamathanan plays Jennifer Parker in the smash-hit London production of Back to the Future.

The Outstanding Stage Performance award went to Nadia Nadarajah for Antony and Cleopatra at Shakespeare’s Globe theatre in London.

Nadia was up against Amy Leigh Hickman in Passing, Laila Zaidi in Frankie Goes to Bollywood, Lucca Chadwick-Patel in My Beautiful Laundrette, Rakesh Boury in Matilda the Musical, and Hiran Abeysekara in The Father and the Assassin.

The Best Stage Production award went to Blue Mist by Mohamed-Zain Dada at the Royal Court Theatre in London.

This year’s Creative Media Award went to Soho Theatre India at Soho Theatre, who work with comedians of South Asian heritage from around the world. 

Now in their 12th year, the awards celebrate achievements in a range of categories in journalism, TV, radio, stage, online and creative media.

Eligibility for the Live Performance categories is that the stage production or performance must have taken place between 1 May 2023 and 22 August 2024. The production must also have been marketed to UK audiences.

Previous recipients of an Asian Media Award include Krishnan Guru-Murthy, Waris Hussein, Art Malik, Mehdi Hasan, Nina Wadia, Anita Rani, Shobna Gulati, Faisal Islam, Kulvinder Ghir, Adil Ray, Lisa Aziz, Meera Syal, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Tina Daheley and Mihir Bose.
