“For the first time in my life, everything was silent”
A memory: award-winning reggae pioneer Sutara Gayle AKA Lorna Gee hears her radio debut from behind the walls of Holloway Prison. Another: she’s caught in the chaos of the Brixton uprising, ignited by the police shooting of her sister. Now, she finds herself on a silent retreat, seeking spiritual guidance from her brother Mooji, Nanny of the Maroons, and the hope of transcendence.
With electrifying musical performances, razor-sharp comedy, and a virtuoso lead, The Legends of Them is an unforgettable, roof-raising celebration of Sutara Gayle’s extraordinary journey—and the legendary figures who have shaped her life.
For a limited run only, the Royal Court presents Hackney Showroom’s unmissable The Legends of Them, written and performed by British actor and internationally acclaimed reggae artist Sutara Gayle AKA Lorna Gee, and directed by Jo McInnes.
The Legends of Them runs from 5–21 December 2024 at the Royal Court Theatre, London. Don’t miss your chance to witness this extraordinary show—book your tickets now!
