Oscar winner Brie Larson (Room, Lessons in Chemistry, Captain Marvel) is making her West End debut in a new production of Elektra this January.
The UK premiere production of Sophocles’ electrifying play, translated by the award winning poet Anne Carson, is coming to the West End’s Duke of York’s Theatre for a limited 11 week season.
The show runs at the Duke of York’s Theatre from 24 January to 12 April 2025.
Elektra will also have a pre-West End tryout at the Theatre Royal Brighton from 13 to 18 January 2025.
Elektra will be directed by Daniel Fish, who directed the recent Tony and Olivier Award-winning revival of Oklahoma! on Broadway and in the West End.
Joining him in the creative team are: Choreography by Annie-B Parson; Set Design by Jeremy Herbert; Costume Design by Doey Lüthi; Lighting Design by Adam Silverman; Sound Design by Max & Ben Ringham; Composer Ted Hearne; Casting by Heather Basten CDG; Voice & Dialect Kate Godfrey; and Costume Supervisor Deborah Andrews.

Actor Brie Larson said in a statement: “I couldn’t be more excited to perform in this Greek drama, or in better company collaborating with Daniel Fish and Anne Carson. Storytelling has always been the way I organize life, feelings and experiences. I look forward to sharing space with the wonderful West End audience while we explore this timeless story.”
Director Daniel Fish said: “What is ancient and what is contemporary? Carson’s translation explodes this question. It is a thrilling challenge to work on Sophokles’s tragedy, by way of Carson’s words, and on the beautiful stage of The Duke of York’s with Brie Larson”.
Elektra is produced by Empire Street Productions, who are currently producing Slave Play at the Noël Coward Theatre starring Kit Harrington and Olivia Washington. They also produced Prima Facie starring Jodie Comer, and The Pillowman starring Lily Allen and Steve Pemberton.
Elektra is playing at the Duke of York’s Theatre from Friday 24 January to Saturday 12 April 2025.
Tickets on sale 2 October 2024.
