The Theatre Royal Haymarket in London’s West End is hosting two transfers from the Theatre Royal Bath this spring and summer 2025.
Brian Cox is set to star in The Score, and Tamsin Greig to star in The Deep Blue Sea, both of which transfer to the West End’s Theatre Royal Haymarket in London from Bath.
The Score starring Brian Cox
Legendary stage and screen actor Brian Cox (Succession) will star as Johann Sebastian Bach alongside Nicole Ansari-Cox as Bach’s wife Anna in Oliver Cotton’s new play The Score, directed by Trevor Nunn.
The Score is set in Spring 1747 in Potsdam, Prussia, where Johann Sebastian Bach reluctantly visits the court of Frederick II, Europe’s most ambitious and dangerous leader.
The production scored a number of positive reviews from the critics when it originally ran at Theatre Royal Bath in Autumn 2023. At the time of the production, Brian Cox spoke about his hope to bring the play to the West End.
Brian Cox’s career spans more than sixty years, garnering numerous awards including two Olivier Awards, and a Golden Globe for HBO’s Succession. He recently starred in the West End in Long Day’s Journey Into Night.
Nicole Ansari-Cox, who is Brian Cox’s wife, is an acclaimed stage and screen actor, with credits that include Deadwood, and Tom Stoppard’s Rock’n’Roll at the Royal Court and on Broadway. Further casting is to be announced.
Director Trevor Nunn is the former artistic director of the National Theatre and Royal Shakespeare Company. His multi-award winning repertoire ranges from Les Misérables to The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby.
Joining Trevor Nunn in the creative team are set and costume designer Robert Jones, lighting designer Johanna Town, sound designer and additional compositions by Sophie Cotton, associate director Cordelia Monsey and the Casting Director is Ginny Schiller CDG.
The Score will play the Theatre Royal Haymarket from 20 February to 26 April 2025.
Terence Rattigan’s The Deep Blue Sea at the Theatre Royal Haymarket
Following The Score, another Theatre Royal Bath production – Terence Rattigan’s The Deep Blue Sea will transfer to the West End, starring Tamsin Greig and Finbar Lynch.
Terence Rattigan’s 1950’s study of obsession and the destructive power of love, directed by Lindsay Posner, originally played in the Ustinov Studio of Theatre Royal Bath in Spring 2024.
This production was also extremely well received by the critics, with The Stage giving the show five stars, plus four stars from the Times, Telegraph and Guardian.

Olivier Award winner Tamsin Greig’s career spans stage and screen including an Olivier Award for Much Ado About Nothing, and nominations for The Little Dog Laughed and Women on the Verge of a Breakdown. Her TV credits include Green Wing, Friday Night Dinner and Episodes.
Tamsin Greig is set for a busy 2025, as she will also star in the Donmar Warehouse production Backstroke from 14 February 2025.
The cast of The Deep Blue Sea also includes Tony Award nominee Finbar Lynch (Not About Nightingales, Girl From The North Country), with further casting to be announced.
Director Lindsay Posner’s recent highly acclaimed productions include the West End transfer of Noises Off, and A View From The Bridge starring Dominic West.
Joining Lindsay Posner in the creative team are set and costume designer Peter McKintosh, lighting designer Paul Pyant, sound designer Gregory Clarke, composer Will Stuart, hair, wigs and make-up designer Carole Hancock, casting director Ginny Schiller and associate director George Jibson.
The Deep Blue Sea will play the Theatre Royal Haymarket from 7 May to 21 June 2025.
Both shows are produced by Theatre Royal Bath Productions and Len Blavatnik and Danny Cohen for Access Entertainment.
