Full casting has been revealed for the forthcoming London run of new musical Cake: The Marie Antoinette Playlist at The Other Palace theatre.
Already announced are the show’s returning leads, Zizi Strallen (Mary Poppins, Strictly Ballroom) as Marie Antoinette, and Renée Lamb (Be More Chill, SIX) as Jeanne.
They will be joined by Millie O’Connell (The Cher Show, Six) as Nicole, and Travis Ross (Cabaret, 42 Balloons) as the Cardinal.
The ensemble cast features Lila Eccles (Cinderella), Tarik Frimpong (The Drifters Girl), Sunny Lee (Hillsong Carols), Zara MacIntosh (& Juliet), Emma Robotham-Hunt (Everybody’s Talking About Jamie), and Manu Sarswat.
Cake: The Marie Antoinette Playlist combines a multi-genre pop score with 18th century France, to retell a story that sparked a revolution in 18th Century France and at the court of King Louis and Marie Antoinette.
The show has a book by Morgan Lloyd Malcolm (Emilia) and a score by Tasha Taylor Johnson and Jack McManus.
Cake is directed by Bronagh Lagan (Cruise) and choreographed by Christopher Tendai (Closer To Heaven), following original direction and choreography by Drew McOnie (The Artist). The creative team also includes set and costume design by Sami Fendall, lighting design by Joshie Harriette and casting by Will Burton.
The show started its life as part of the new musical festival MTFestUK, and ran at the Turbine Theatre in London in January and February 2023, as well as a UK tour to The Lowry Salford and the Curve in Leicester. Cake also had short run in 2023 at the Lyric Theatre in the West End.
Cake: The Marie Antoinette Playlist will play The Other Palace theatre in London from 13 September to 10 November 2024.
