A new teaser trailer has dropped for The Duchess (of Malfi), Zinnie Harris’s contemporary reimagining of John Webster’s The Duchess of Malfi starring screen and stage star Jodie Whittaker (Doctor Who, Broadchurch).

The Duchess (Of Malfi) is playing at the Trafalgar Theatre in London for 11 weeks only from 5 October to 20 December 2024.

Adapted and directed by Zinnie Harris (Macbeth An Undoing), this vivid, radical take on Webster’s classic revenge tragedy had a successful run in Edinburgh in 2019, and is now coming to London.

The Duchess (Of Malfi) reframes the action to push the violent actions of men to the fore, exploring the depths of the patriarchy against female resistance, in this intelligent and provocative contemporary reworking of Johnson’s classic drama.

Jodie Whittaker is returning to the London stage for the first time in 10 years. She was the first woman to play Doctor Who in the BBC’s hit sci-fi series, and her other TV credits include Toxic Tom (Netflix), Time (BBC), One Night (Paramount+), Trust Me (BBC), Broadchurch (ITV), Black Mirror (Netflix), The Smoke (Sky One), and The Assets (ABC).

Jodie’s film credits includes Journeyman, Venus, Adult Life Skills, Black Sea and Attack The Block.

The Duchess is playing at the Trafalgar Theatre for 11 weeks only from 5 October to 20 December 2024.

Currently playing at the Trafalgar Theatre is People, Places and Things starring Denise Gough which is running to 10 August 2024. Next up at the Trafalgar Theatre is classic West End comedy The 39 Steps, running from 16 August to 28 September 2024.
