Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre and UK poet Allie Esiri are hosting a star-studded night of Shakespeare poetry readings tonight in London.
The evening is based on Allie Esiri’s bestselling poetry anthology Shakespeare for Every Day of the Year, and celebrates 400 years of Shakespeare’s First Folio and over 90 years of Shakespeare performances at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre.
The event, Shakespeare for Every Day of the Year – Live! takes place tonight, Monday 8 July 2024, at Regents Park Open Air Theatre.
Former actor, and bestselling author and poetry champion Allie Esiri will be joined by a star-studded cast of award winning theatre and film actors including Paul Chahidi (Wicked Little Letters), Damian Lewis (Homeland), Ian Charleson 2024 Award winner Toheeb Jimoh (Player Kings, Ted Lasso), Stephen Mangan (Episodes), Tracy Ann Oberman (The Merchant of Venice 1936), Tony Robinson (Blackadder), Danny Sapani (Between Riverside and Crazy, Killing Eve), Samantha Spiro (The Merry Wives of Windsor, Sex Education), Luke Thompson (A Little Life, Bridgerton), Samuel West (Slow Horses), Olivia Williams (The Crown), and Susan Wokoma (Enola Holmes).
Allie Esiri and friends will guide the audience on a journey through the Shakespeare you already love and the best bits that you don’t, with poetry, speeches and scenes read by actors who have a special connection to Shakespeare’s work and to the theatre itself.
