Paul Kay is an English dancer who is a soloist with The Royal Ballet.
He trained at The Royal Ballet School and graduated in 2003, before swiftly being promoted to First Artist in 2005 and Soloist in 2008.
His work with the Royal Ballet includes playing Hans-Peter/Nutcracker (The Nutcracker), Bronze Idol (La Bayadère), Kolia (A Month in the Country), Puck (The Dream), Alain (La Fille mal gardée), Bratfisch (Mayerling) and Jester (Cinderella). He has also created roles in McGregor’s Qualia, Infra and Acis and Galatea, Wheeldon’s DGV: Danse à grande vitesse and Brandstrup’s Rushes – Fragments of a Lost Story.
Paul is also an old romantic! He proposed to his girlfriend, fellow Royal Ballet dance Leanne Cope, in 2010 ONSTAGE during a performance of The Nutcracker, in which he was playing the title role opposite Cope as Clara.
