The Wizard of Oz – full cast announced for West End season

Full casting has been announced for this Summer’s West End run of The Wizard of Oz at the Gillian Lynne Theatre.

Big name casting includes Aston Merrygold and The Vivienne, both previously announced, who will play The Tin Man and The Wicked Witch of the West.

New cast announced today are Allan Stewart (Stones in His Pockets, West End; STV Hello, Good Evening, Welcome) and Alex Bourne (Annie, West End; Hairspray, UK Tour) who will play The Wizard, reprising their roles from the UK tour.

Allan and Alex join previously announced principal company members also currently starring in the UK and Ireland touring production: Aviva Tulley (Book of Mormon, UK Tour) as DorothyBenjamin Yates (ITV’s EmmerdaleJersey Boys, West End) as The Scarecrow, Nic Greenshields (Love Never Dies West End; Les Misérables West End, International Tour) as The Cowardly Lion, Emily Bull (9 to 5, UK Tour; Matilda UK Tour) as Glinda The Good Witch and Abigail Matthews as Toto (Bleak Expectations, West End; War Horse, West End).

The company is completed by: David Burrows, Adam Craig, Cole Dunn, Tyler Ephraim, Olivia Kate Holding, Thomas Kalek, Sadie Levett, Kelsie-Rae Marshall, Martin McCarthy, Rose Ouellette, Fanja Parent, Alexandra Regan, Nathan Routledge, and Sydney Spencer.

Aston Merrygold will appear as The Tin Man on all dates with the exception of: Tues 20, Sat 24, Tue 27 and Sat 31 August. Femi Akinfolarin will play Tin Man on these dates.

Based on the much-loved story by L. Frank Baum, the show features the iconic original score from the Oscar-winning MGM film, including Over The Rainbow, Follow The Yellow Brick Road and We’re Off To See the Wizard, with additional songs from Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice.

We can’t wait to welcome families to the Gillian Lynne Theatre, where we play for 38 performances only, for a true summer holiday treat. With an extraordinary cast led by Aston Merrygold and The Vivienne, all going over the rainbow are in for a magical time.”
