Acclaimed West End show Tina – The Tina Turner Musical has revealed new casting.
From Tuesday 25 June 2024, Karis Anderson, who is currently starring as Tina Turner, will share the role with new cast member Zoe Birkett (The Witches, The Bodyguard, Moulin Rouge! The Musical).
Olivier Award nominee Rolan Bell (Memphis, The Play That Goes Wrong) will join the show to play Ike Turner. He will take over from Okezie Morro, who is currently starring as Ike.
Karis is currently sharing the role of Tina with Elesha Paul Moses. Further casting for the show will be announced.
Tina recently celebrated six years in the West End, having opened at the Aldwych Theatre on 17 April 2018.
The musical is dedicated to the memory of Tina Turner, who sadly passed away in May 2023.
Since 2018 the show has been seen staged internationally including on Broadway, and in North America, Australia, Germany, The Netherlands and Spain. It was recently announced a new production would tour the UK from next year, opening at Curve Leicester on 6 March 2025.
TINA – New cast
Tina – The Tina Turner Musical is directed by Phyllida Lloyd (Mamma Mia!) and written by Pulitzer Prize-winner Katori Hall, with Frank Ketelaar and Kees Prins. This against-all-odds bio-musical about the Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll is set to all of her greatest hit songs.
Producer Tali Pelman said in a statement: “We are absolutely thrilled that Zoe and Rolan will be joining Karis to lead our company from 25th June. Having just celebrated our 6th birthday in the West End, we continue to be extremely proud of the whole company who tell Tina’s incredible story and blow the roof off the Aldwych Theatre 8 shows a week!”
Tina – The Tina Turner Musical is now booking to 31 May 2025.
