Casting has been announced for Passing Strange at the Young Vic theatre in London
Olivier Award-winner Giles Terera – known for Hamilton and currently appearing in Power of Sail at the Menier Chocolate Factory – will play the Narrator, Rachel Adedeji (Dreaming Whilst Black) will play Mother and Keenan Munn-Francis (Black Dog) is cast as the Youth.
Since winning an Olivier Award for his performance in Hamilton Terera has appeared in many acclaimed productions including Clyde at the Donmar, Othello and Blues for an Alabama Sky, both at the National Theatre, and Rosmershom at the Duke of York’s theatre..
The cast also features David Albury (Get Up, Stand Up!), Nadia Violet Johnson (School of Rock), Renée Lamb (Cake) and Caleb Roberts (Tina – The Tina Turner Musical). The band is Ikechukwu Onwuagbu (bass), Nick Pinchbeck (keyboards/guitar), James Taylor (drums) and Art Terry(keyboards/guitar).
Billed as an electrifying musical odyssey set in 1980’s Amsterdam and Berlin the Young Vic will present the European premiere of this multi-award winning musical. The creative team includes director Liesl Tommy (Aretha Franklin biopic Respect, Tony nominated Eclipsed), with book and lyrics by Stew, music by Stew Stewart and Heidi Rodewald, and is created in collaboration with Annie Dorsen.
Passing Strange runs from 4 May 2024 to 6 July 2024 at The Young Vic London.
