Alex Young will join the West End production of Stranger Things: The First Shadow at the Phoenix Theatre in London.
Alex will take on the role of Virginia Creel originally played by Lauren Ward.
Alex Young recently appeared in Terry Gilliam and Leah Hausman’s revival of Stephen Sondheim’s Into the Woods at Theatre Royal Bath, Anyone Can Whistle at Southwark Playhouse and She Loves Me at Sheffield Crucible.
Young’s many theatre roles include Young Sally in Follies (National Theatre); Marge in Promises, Promises (Southwark Playhouse); Brutus in Coriolanus (Sheffield Theatre), Sarah Brown in Guys and Dolls, Poppy in Standing at the Sky’s Edge, Erma in Anything Goes , Ellie May Chipley in Show Boat, all for Sheffield Crucible; Nellie Forbush in South Pacific and Sally Smith in Me And My Girl, for Chichester Festival Theatre; Brunhilde in I Can’t Sing (London Palladium); and, Carrie Pipperidge in Carousel (ENO/ London Coliseum.
Based on the Netflix TV series, Stranger Things: The First Shadow is a thrilling new play that has opened to some of the best reviews in recent memory. Whilst the show is set in the world made famous by the TV show – Hawkins Indiana – you don’t need to have watched the series to enjoy this spectacular theatrical event.
The key cast features: Louis McCartney (Game of Thrones) as Henry Creel; Isabella Pappas (Finding Alice) as Joyce Maldonaldo; Oscar Lloyd (The 47th) as James Hopper Jnr; Christopher Buckley (David Copperfield) as Bob Newby; Ella Karuna Williams (The Equalizer) as Patty Newby; Shane Attwooll (Wonder Woman 1984) as Chief Hopper; Christopher Buckley (David Copperfield) as Bob Newby; Michael Jibson (The Essex Serpent; Hamilton) as Victor Creel; and, Patrick Vaill (Oklahoma!) as Dr Brenner.
The production is currently booking to 25 August 2024 at the Phoenix Theatre London.
