Pinocchio is headed to Stratford this Christmas in a new pantomime production at Theatre Royal Stratford East.
Running from 23 November 2024 to 4 January 2025, Pinocchio features a book and lyrics by seasoned panto scribe Trish Cooke, music and lyrics by Robert Hyman and will be directed by Omar F. Oka. Round up your friends and family for this reimagined telling of the fairy tale classic, it’s sure to be a treat.
In addition to the previously announced Stratford East production of Now, I See by Lanre Malaolu, this spring they also announce a newly commissioned work, written by Molly Taylor, to be performed by the Stratford East Young Company directed by Katie Greenall.
Live At Stratford East returns headlined by Sophie Duker, alongside further comedy with improv show The Comedy Store Players and a family friendly offering, Comedy Club 4 Kids.
In April they welcome queer pan-Asian cabaret, Tales From The Bitten Peach, and the Papatango Prize-winning playwright Nkenna Akunna’s coming-of age story, cheeky little brown from tiata fahodzi; and in June, the Nina Simone inspired production of Black is the Color of My Voice from Seabright Live, featuring many of her iconic songs performed live.
Continuing the celebration of music, Stratford East also host a variety of music inspired productions from Elaine Delmar: The Music Of George Gershwin & Cole Porter and Jazz Orient with Baluji Shrivastav OBE to An Evening Of Gospel Live! and Rave On – The Ultimate 50s and 60s Experience.
Up next at Stratford East is The Big Life – The Ska Musical – A joyful and uplifting production, where the story of Shakespeare’s Love’s Labour’s Lost meets that of the Windrush generation. The show runs from 16 February 2024 – 30 March 2024.
