Production photos are in for Unfortunate: The Untold Story of Ursula The Sea Witch now playing at Southwark Playhouse Elephant in London.
Leading the new production is Shawna Hamic (Orange is the New Black) in her UK stage debut playing Ursula, alongside River Medway (RuPaul’s Drag Race UK) as Ariel, plus Thomas Lowe (Triton), Allie Dart (Sebastian), Jamie Mawson (Eric), Julian Capolei (Grimsby), and and the ensemble includes Corrina Buchan, Jack Gray, Jamie McKillop and Milly Willows.
Written by Robyn Grant, who also directs, and Daniel Foxx, with music, arrangements and orchestrations by Tim Gilvin, Unfortunate is a musical parody of the Disney’s Little Mermaid where villainess Ursula is given the benefit of doubt and allowed to tell her side of the story.
The production released a video last week of Shawna Hamic (Ursula) and Thomas Lowe (Triton) singing “Suckin’ On You” from the show, and Shawna sat down for an interview with us this week.
Unfortunate is playing at Southwark Playhouse Elephant until 17 February 2024 and will then embark on a UK tour.
