Tickets have gone on sale for Player Kings, the major new stage drama starring Sir Ian McKellen coming to the Noel Coward Theatre in London.

This is Shakespeare as you have never seen it before, with two of his major plays adapted into one extraordinary evening.

Who is Ian McKellen playing in Player Kings?

One of the world’s great actors, Ian McKellen will play Shakespeare’s legendary character John Falstaff in this new drama adapted from Shakespeare’s Henry IV Parts 1 and 2.

This will be first time McKellen has ever played Shakespeare’s iconic character Falstaff on the stage.

Player Kings is running at the Noel Coward Theatre in London from 1 April to 22 June 2024.

Player Kings is adapted and directed by award-winner Robert Icke (The Doctor), and the creative team also includes Design by Hildegard Bechtler; Lighting Design by Lee Curran; Sound Design by Gareth Fry; Casting Director Julia Horan; and Fight Director: Kev McCurdy.

What is Player King’s about?

In the play, England is a divided country, with its leadership crumbling, and corruption in the air. Prince Hal wasn’t born to be king, and only now, it seems, he will be. His father longs for him to leave behind his friends in the taverns of Eastcheap, most notably the infamous John Falstaff. War is on the horizon. But will Hal ever come good?
