★★★★★ “Exquisitely haunting” – The Guardian

Ground-breaking mixed reality concert KAGAMI is coming to London’s Roundhouse for four weeks this Christmas.

This extraordinary one-off mixed reality concert event is created by legendary composer and musician, the late Ryuichi Sakamoto, in collaboration with international Wearable Augmented and Mixed Reality collective Tin Drum.

KAGAMI represents a new kind of concert, fusing dimensional moving photography with the real world to create a never-before-experienced mixed reality presentation.

Audiences are invited to wear optically transparent devices to view the virtual Sakamoto performing on piano alongside dimensional art aligned with the music.

Presented in surround sound, the experience is both collective and individual, inviting observers to connect to the work – and each other – throughout.

Kagami is playing at London’s Roundhouse from 29 December 2023 to 21 January 2024.

Stars and Creatives

Who are the creative team of Kagami?

Ryuichi Sakamoto, Composer and Performer; Todd Eckert, Director and Producer; Mary Hickson, Creative Producer & Production Manager; Tomaso Cariboni, Technical Producer; Aurelien Simon, Executive Producer

Ryuichi Sakamoto

Sakamoto was and remains an international sensation, with a body of work spanning from electronic to classical composition, large scale art installations and performances, and nearly 45 original film/TV scores, including original scores for Oscar-winning films such as The Last Emperor and The Revenant. His evocative and at times elegiac music  garnered a legion of fans over several decades and intense respect throughout the world.

Tin Drum

Tin Drum is an international collective of artists and technologists working exclusively in Wearable Augmented or Mixed Reality. In 2019 Tin Drum made history by presenting the Life with Marina Abramović at the Serpentine Galleries, London. It was the first large-scale Mixed Reality exhibition anywhere, with an over-capacity audience of 5,000 experiencing the piece over a week-long engagement. It went on to create a new market by selling through Christie’s after a two-week exhibition in October 2020, despite the disruption of the global pandemic.
