Rehearsal Photos: The Witches musical at the National Theatre

The National Theatre in London has released rehearsal photos for their upcoming musical adaptation of Roald Dahl’s The Witches.

West End favourite Katherine Kingsley stars as the infamous Grand High Witch with BAFTA Award-winner Daniel Rigby playing hotel manager Mr Stringer and Sally Ann Triplett (Oklahoma!) cast as Gran.

The large scale musical features a cast of 53 including: Laura Medforth, Richard David-Caine,Ekow Quartey, Maggie Service, Irvine Iqbal, Julie Armstrong, Chrissie Bhima, Zoe Birkett, Maddison Bulleyment, Miracle Chance, Daniele Coombe, Molly-May Gardiner, Tiffany Graves, Bobbie Little, Tania Mathurin, Amira Matthews, Alexandra Waite-Roberts,Adrian Grove, Jacob Maynard, Ben Redfern and Emily Langham.

One of Roald Dahl’s most loved stories, The Witches is a brilliant blend of his trademark humour and hair-raising action, featuring one of his most iconic characters, the Grand High Witch. A firm fan favourite across the generations, the book has sold over 11 million copies since it was first published.

The show boasts a book and lyrics by award-winning playwright Lucy Kirkwood (Chimerica), and music and lyrics by Dave Molloy (Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812). Lyndsey Turner directs with set & costume by Lizzie Clachan and choreography by Stephen Mear (Mary Poppins). The creative team includes: music supervisor Nigel Lilley, music director Cat Beveridge, lighting designer Bruno Poet, co-sound designers Alexander Caplen and Ian Dickinson, and video designer Ash J Woodward. Illusions are by Chris Fisher and Will Houstoun, the casting director is Bryony Jarvis-Taylor, associate director Séimí Campbell, staff director Priya Patel Appleby, associate set designer Shankho Chaudhuri, associate costume designer Johanna Coe, associate choreographer Jo Morris, associate music director Natalie Pound and children’s and assistant music director Sarah Morrison.
