Death Becomes Her musical comedy to star Megan Hilty & Jennifer Simard

Death Becomes Her – the new musical comedy based on the hit film will star Megan Hilty and Jennifer Simard.

The new musical is adapted for the stage by Marco Pennette and will feature music & lyrics by Julia Mattison & Noel Carey with direction & choreography by Christopher Gattelli.

Death Becomes Her, based on the classic 1992 film starring Goldie Hawn and Meryl Streep, is a drop-dead hilarious new musical comedy about friendship, love, and burying the hatchet…again, and again, and again. The strap line from the show is “Life’s a bitch and then you die. Or not!”

Smash star Hilty and Once Upon a One More Time‘s Simard will play Madeline Ashton and Helen Sharp, roles originated on screen by Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn. The story follows Madeline and Helen – former besties and now rivals fighting for the affection of the same man – who take a magic potion that promises eternal youth (with unexpected consequences).

The show will have its US premiere at the Cadillac Theatre in Chicago running from 30 April 2024 to 2 June 2024.

News on casting and Broadway and West End dates to be announced.

A recent reading of the production featured featured Christopher Sieber as Ernest Menville (originally played by Bruce Willis), Nicole Scherzinger (soon to lead a new revival of Sunset Boulevard in the West End) as Viola Van Horn (originally played by Isabella Rossellini), and Kevin Smith Kirkwood as Zander Medly.
