Hit West End musical Back to the Future has had its gala opening night on Broadway.
Last week in New York, Back to the Future The Musical celebrated the show’s opening on Broadway at the Winter Garden Theatre, ahead of the official opening on 3 August 2023.
Guests in attendance included original Marty McFly and Doc Brown from the hit films, Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd, plus co-stars Lea Thompson, Don Fullilove, Harry Waters Jr., Marc McClure and James Tolkan. Also in attendance was Stephen Spielberg, Huey Lewis, Bernadette Peters and creators of Back to the Future Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale, alongside many others.
The Broadway cast includes Casey Likes as Marty McFly, Original West End cast members Roger Bart and Hugh Coles as Doc Brown and George McFly respectively, Liana Hunt as Lorraine McFly, Jelani Remi as Goldie Wilson/Marvin Berry, Nathaniel Hackmann as Biff, Merritt David Janes as Strickland and Mikaela Secada as Jennifer.
Based on the Universal Pictures/Amblin Entertainment film, Back to the Future The Musical has a book by Bob Gale and music and lyrics by Emmy and Grammy Award-winning Alan Silvestri and six-time Grammy Award-winning Glen Ballard, with additional songs from the film including The Power of Love and Johnny B. Goode.It is directed by Award-winning director John Rando
Back to the Future The Musical is currently booking until 11 February 2024 in London, and 25 February 2024 on Broadway.
Back to the Future The Musical first opened at the Adelphi Theatre in London’s West End in September 2021 to critical acclaim alongside Olivier, WhatsOnStage and Broadway World awards including Best New Musical. The productions in London and Manchester have so far been seen by a million people, breaking box office records at the Adelphi Theatre along the way.
