Casting has been announced for the forthcoming tour of Treason The Musical, including its run at the Alexandra Palace Theatre in London from 8 November 2023.
Nicole Raquel Dennis (Dreamgirls, Dear Evan Hansen, The Voice) is set to star as Martha Percy in Treason the Musical, alongside Joe McFadden (Holby City, The Rocky Horror Show, Priscilla Queen of the Desert) as King James I of England, and Emilie Louise Israel (Hamilton; Once on This Island) as Anne Vaux.
The show will be directed by Hannah Chissick, with further casting to be announced.
The role of Martha Percy has previously been played in development by West End stars Rosalie Craig, Lucie Jones and most recently Carrie Hope Fletcher, and had two sell-out concert productions at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in London.
Since the release of the original Treason EP back in 2020, the songs have been streamed over 1 million times across 96 countries.
Created by Ricky Allan, the original folk and pop songs in the show include Take Things Into Our Own Hands and No Happy Ending.
Treason the Musical is a historic tale of division, religious persecution, and brutality, ending in an ambitious yet fateful plot to bring down both the monarchy and the government.
The creative team for the production also includes choreography by Taylor Walker, musical supervision by Nick Pinckbeck, orchestrations by Matthew Malone, design by Ruth Sutcliffe, lighting by Simisola Majekodunmi, sound design by Tom Marshall, video design by Gina Green, casting by Harry Blumenau and dramaturgy by Hannah Chiswi
In addition to its run at the Alexandra Palace Theatre from 8 to 18 November 2023, the show will also play the Festival Theatre Edinburgh from 25 to 28 October; Sheffield Lyceum Theatre from 31 October to 4 November; and The Orchard Theatre Dartford from 21 to 25 November.
