Treason, an explosive new musical about the Gunpowder Plot will return to the stage this November.

Set to blow you away with stunning original folk and pop songs, this one-of-a-kind show tells one of the most intriguing tales in Britain’s history as it’s never been seen before.

Bringing with it the historic tale of division, religious persecution, and brutality, ending in an ambitious yet fateful plot to bring down both the monarchy and the government. This new British musical will be presented in a full-scale production for the first time ever.

What's the story of Treason The Musical?

Treason is based on the notorious 1605 Gunpowder Plot in which disaffected catholics planned to assassinate the protestant English monarch King James I, by blowing up the Houses of Parliament, and installing his 9-year-old daughter Elizabeth as a Catholic head of state. Due to occur at the State Opening of Parliament on 5 November, the plot was foiled and all the men were hunted down and sentenced to be hung, drawn and quartered.

A full scale production of Treason The Musical will open in the UK later this year. Set to blow you away with stunning original folk and pop songs, this one-of-a-kind show tells one of the most intriguing tales in Britain’s history as it’s never been seen before. The Gunpowder Plot of 1605 in which disaffected protestants planned to blow up the government and King at the state opening of parliament on 5 November. Bringing with it the historic tale of division, religious persecution, and brutality, ending in an ambitious yet fateful plot to bring down both the monarchy and the government. Its thwarting is still celebrated in England on 5 November but it better known as Bonfire Night. The show has already been seen in concept album form where it was streamed from Cadogan Hall andwas performed in concert twice at Theatre Royal Drury Lane last summer. Treason has music by Ricky Allan, and book and lyrics by Ricky Allan and Kieran Lynn and features the songs “Take Things Into Our Own Hands”, “The Day Elizabeth Died” and “Blind Faith”. Ricky Allan said, “we're immensely grateful to those who joined us for our two sold out Drury Lane shows, we hope that ‘Plotters’ from all around the world will enjoy listening to this latest offering and we can't wait to welcome you to the fully staged show later this year!” Casting and venue has yet to be announced. Additional date added for Treason at Theatre Royal Drury Lane
Treason, the new musical about the gun powder plot has added a further performance to its run at the Theatre Royal Dury Lane this Summer. Since announcing the live stage debut of the musical on 22 August at Theatre Royal Drury Lane, it sold out within 2 weeks of going on sale, a record for an original new musical! This has led to an additional performance date being added, on the evening of 23 August 2022, due to such popular demand. Treason has already garnered a global audience following its streamed concert from Cadogan Hall in March 2021 and successful release of six tracks on streaming platforms. Songs from Treason The Musical such as ‘Take Things Into Our Own Hands’, ‘The Cold Hard Ground’ and ‘Blind Faith’ have already taken taken Spotify by storm with over 200,000 streams, and the streamed lockdown concert was described as “an exceptional musical in the making” (West End Best Friend). A brand new series of blockbuster musicals concerts are to be staged at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane on Mondays this August 2022. Musicals included in the line-up are Tim Rice and ABBA's Chess, Broadway and West End hit Kinky Boots, and Ricky Allan and Kieran Lynn's new musical Treason. Headliners to star in the concerts include Carrie Hope Fletcher, Hadley Fraser, Samantha Barks and Cedric Neal. Chess is on Monday 1 August 2022, and stars Samantha Barks (Frozen The Musical, Les Miserables) as Florence and Hadley Fraser (City of Angels, The Phantom Of The Opera) as Anatoly, accompanied by the 50-piece London Musical Theatre Orchestra. With music by ABBA legends Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, and lyrics by Sir Tim Rice, the iconic musical Chess returns to the West End for the first time since a limited run at the London Coliseum in 2018. Treason unveils cast for filmed musical concert premiere
Casting has been announced for the upcoming online concert of new musical Treason. The musical will feature a who's who of London's West End including Lucie Jones (Waitress, Legally Blonde), Cedric Neal (Chess, Motown The Musical, Back To The Future), Oliver Tompsett (& Juliet, Kinky Boots), Bradley Jaden (Les Misérables, Wicked), Rebecca LaChance (School of Rock, Beautiful) and Emmanuel Kojo (Oklahoma!, Show Boat).
