★★★★ “A knockout” – The Times

Extraordinary immersive experience, re-imaging the iconic flight between George Foreman and Muhammad Ali for the Heavyweight Championship of the World

Part theatre show, part festival, Rumble in the Jungle Rematch re-imagines history’s greatest sporting moments as incredible immersive events.

Travel back in time to Zaire’74, and immerse yourself in the sights, sounds, scent, spectacle and sweet, sweet soul music of a forgotten Festival and an unforgettable Fight.

Rumble in the Jungle Rematch is an experience in six incredible chapters:

Chapter 1: Time Travel

Step inside the Rematch time portal and into 1974 Zaire where border security have been told to expect your arrival in Kinshasa.

Chapter 2: Kinshasa, Zaire and the Fight

Explore Kinshasa, Zaire 1974; gather for the fighters’ press conference, visit the boxers’ training camps and immerse yourself in the build up to this historical moment. Or take it easy at the bar, grab a bite of Congolese street food and drink in your new surroundings with a local beverage.

Chapter 3: The Festival

The authentic rhythms of Afrobeat, Soul, Salsa and beyond! To keep the fight hype high a festival was staged celebrating the best from American, African and Latin music – a live band awaits you to celebrate this forgotten festival.

Chapter 4: The Interval

A break from the fever inside the Stade du 20 Mai; have a drink and grab yourself some of the Congolese street food from the market or some American classics from the Intercontinental Hotel.

Chapter 5: The Fight

Chapter 5: The big, bad, indestructible George Foreman v the once-great, now-underdog and always mercurial Muhammad Ali for the Heavyweight Championship of the World. A combination of precision choreography, physical theatre, video projections and original music will immerse the audience in this iconic, dramatic and timeless bout.

Chapter 6: Back to 2023

The party’s far from over! Songs from the biggest global acts in black music, including the Godfather of Soul himself, James Brown, will finish up your stay in Africa and accompany you on your return journey to 2023.

The show will be Rematch’s first post-pandemic production, following on from their award-winning ‘Wimbledon Rematch 1980’ event in 2019. That event celebrated another of sport’s ace moments, by re-imagining Björn Borg’s epic clash with John McEnroe, and was recognised by the Campaign Experience Awards 2020, serving up Gold for Creative Event of the Year.

Rumble in the Jungle Rematch is running at Dock X London from 14 September to 29 October 2023.
