Director Jon M. Chu has posted some first-look pictures for his new Wicked movie.
And if you were anxiously anticipating a glimpse of Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda in their witchy finery then you’re in luck! Although they aren’t the best quality images we have ever seen!
The movies also star Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero, Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard, Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, Ethan Slater as Boq, Keala Settle as Miss Coddle, Bowen Yang as Pfannee, Marissa Bode as Nessarose, Bronwyn James as ShenShen, Aaron Teoh as Avaric, and Colin Michael Carmichael as Professor Nikidik.
The films will be in two-parts, based on the smash-hit stage production of Wicked, which in turn is based on Gregory Maguire’s hit novel, and directed by Jon M. Chu (In the Heights).
The movies will feature all of the songs from the show, by Academy Award-winning composer and lyricist Stephen Schwartz.
The first film will debut in the US on 29 November 2024, and the second will come out on Christmas Day 2025.
Last week news also came out that Jon M. Chu plans to adapt Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s hit stage show Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat into a movie.
