The Shape of Things to star Amber Anderson & Luke Newton at the Park Theatre

Casting has been announced for the London revival of Neil LaBute’s drama The Shape of Things at the Park Theatre.

Screen star Amber Anderson (Peaky Blinders) makes her stage debut as Eve, with Luke Newton (Bridgerton) as Adam.

Amber Anderson’s TV credits include Peaky Blinders, Strike – The Cuckoo’s Calling, Maigret’s Dead Man and Black Mirror. Her film work includes The Souvenir II, Emma, White Lie, All the World’s a Stage, Skin Walker, In Darkness, The Riot Club, Lotus Eaters and Your Highness.

Luke Newton is best know for playing series regular Colin Bridgerton in Netflix’s Bridgerton, with other TV credits including The Lodge, Mr Selfridge, Sadie J, and The Cut. On film, Luke’s credits include Lake Placid: Legacy, and on stage he starred in The Book of Mormon at the Prince of Wales Theatre.

Further casting is to be announced.

The Shape of Things is a dark comedy about the drama of human relationships and the nature of love and art. It premiered at the Almeida Theatre at Kings Cross in 2001, directed by Neil LaBute, with Paul Rudd as Adam, Rachel Weisz as Evelyn, Gretchen Mol as Jenny, and Fred Weller as Phillip. This production then opened Off-Broadway, and also became a movie in 2003 featuring the original cast.

Neil LaBute’s other credits include In The Company of Men, The Wicker Man and Death at a Funeral.

The play is directed by Nicky Allpress, who recently directed a revival of The Walworth Farce at Southwark Playhouse.

Other members of the creative team include Set and Costume design by Peter Butler, Lighting design by Anna Reddyhoff, Sound design by Asaf Zahor, Costume Supervision by Alexandra Kharibian, and the Casting Director is Amy Jane Blair.

The Shape of Things runs from 24 May to 1 July 2023 at the Park Theatre.
